(May 1/2) Introduction from a Bekka student

Minju: Hello! Thank you for accepting the interview of Tsubasa.

Okhee: Hi! Nice to meet you.

Minju: First of all, please introduce yourself to everyone who is reading this Tsubasa.

Okhee: Yes. Hello, everyone! My name is Bae Okhee. I’m studying in Bekka. My nickname is Hee!

Minju: It's Hee-chan! There is a friend who has the same nickname in the FSA.

Okhee: Lol, that's right. Originally, I was going to make it “Okhee”, as my name suggests, but I heard that this might mean "it's okay," so I decided into my current nickname. On the first day I came to Japan, my senior who lives with me in the dormitory made it for me.

Minju: Wow, on the day you arrived in Japan, your senior at the dorm made it for you, that's really nice!!

Okhee: Yes, that's right!!

And I'm from Yeosu, South Korea, and I'm the eldest daughter. I have a younger sister and younger brother.

Minju: Wow, are you the eldest daughter? That's amazing.

Okhee: Thank you.

Minju: Okay!! Now let's move on to the first question of Tsubasa!! Could you tell us why you decided to enter Soka University?

Okhee: Yes! Since I was young, I have been aiming to come to the university naturally under the influence of my parents. And since my dream is to be a writer, I thought this kind of experience would help me later. I think having experiences is important for a writer. So, the department I'm thinking about right now is the literature department.

Minju: I see! That's why you came to Soka University! Indeed, Soka University has many foreign students from various countries, so you can have various experiences!

Okhee: That's right! Now I'm also studying languages to make many friends.

Minju: Communication is certainly important in making friends. You are studying in Bekka now. Do you have any difficulties or concerns?

Okhee: It's about studying Japanese. I have a Japanese test and a kanji test every week, and I have homework every day. So I am working on studying Japanese every day.

Minju: It's true that the most difficult part of a Bekka course is studying Japanese.

Okhee:Yes, now teachers teach us kindly, but it's getting more diificult. And the other thing is that I am the only girl among Koreans, and sometimes I feel lonely. Although there are other girls in my Bekka course, but all of them speak Chinese, so I can't understand them when they speak.

Minju: Really? If you're the only one who can't communicate, you might feel a little left out.

Okhee: That's right. I think it would have been nice if there were other Korean female friend. But my high school friend who lives in Hachioji is from another university, so we sometimes meet and hang out together.

Minju: Oh, really? It's amazing that you girls are meeting in Japan even though it's a different university!!

Okhee: Yes, so I can rely on my friend.

Minju: That's great! Does your friend live nearby?

Okhee: Yes, she lives close to my dorm!

Minju: That's great!! By the way, you are living in a dormitory now. How is your life in the dormitory?

Okhee: Dormitory life is really fun!! At first, I thought the facilities were a little old, but now I'm having a really happy day thanks to the support of my friends and seniors in the dormitory!!!

Minju: I'm glad you've already adapted well to Japanese life!! Lastly, what are your plans for this summer vacation? Do you have any plans to return to Korea?

Okhee: I'm hesitating right now, but 95% intend to return to Korea.

Minju: If it's 95%, it's already decided, isn't it? How long are you going to go if you go?

Okhee: My senior told me that If I stay in Korea for a long time, I might forget Japanese, so I've been thinking about it for about two weeks.

Minju: Yes, it is good to stay in Korea for a long time, but it may be easy to forget Japanese. We still have a lot of time left until summer vacation, but let's do our best until then!

Okhee: Yes!! I'll do my best!

Minju: Yes!! Thank you very much for taking the interview today!!

Okhee: Thank you very much!
