Name: Santiago (Santi)

Home-Country: Bogota (Colombia)

Program: Bekka (Future Faculty: Science and Engineering)

Hobby: Violin (8 years)

What was your image of Soka University before your enrollment?

Before enrolling to this university, I always had the desire to go to Soka University. And I thought it would be a great university. Also, I thought that SGI people who gather here in Soka University, may be able to become better world citizens.

How did your vision of Soka University changed after your enrollment?

After my enrolment, the humanistic spirit of Soka University was stronger than I thought. Dr. Ikeda's book talks about humanism at the universities. There he talked about the people who accept and practice this humanism of value creation and how others don’t. I am currently studying Japanese at the Bekka program, so I am still having some trouble communicating in Japanese. Because of that, sometimes I can't speak well, but the people I met at Soka University were very kind to me, and through this, I was able to feel the humanistic spirit of Soka University again.

Is there anything you would like to ask your seniors? If there is any question, please let us know.

I would like to ask you if there was anything that you want me to know that you guys would have wanted to know when you were in Bekka? And I'd like to hear from my seniors of the engineering department about how difficult math is in this department from 1 to 10 scale.

Name: Basile Veffeme

Country: Bamenda (Cameroon)

Faculty: Business Administration (EMP)

Hobby: Listening to music, Singing

What was your image of Soka University before your enrollment?

Before coming here, I was given a general idea from my Senpai about Soka University, as a University focused on creating global citizens, and that is the main reason why I got interested in it. Then, I decided to get some online information about the university and the founder himself.

How did your vision of Soka University changed after your enrollment?

To be honest, it has not really changed: Soka University confirmed to be exactly as I imagined. Anyway, through directly experiencing life at Soka – by meeting people, attending classes and speaking with teachers – I could prove in my life that what I had learnt until that moment about Soka University wasn’t only theory, but the reality.

Is there anything you would like to ask your seniors? If there is any question, please let us know.

Actually something I would like to ask to seniors – and in particular to those who graduated already – is about their life after graduation and their career development. Soka University has an approach that is really different from other universities. Therefore, I’d like to know how the education received at Soka impacted their life in regards to their future perspective.
