Hee: Hello, thank you for taking this interview despite your busy schedule with international students cafe’s activities!

Yubin: Haha! Thank you very much!

Hi: First of all! Can you introduce yourself?

Yubin: Yes! I'm Yubin, I’m a second-year student in the faculty of economics, and I am head of the sanitary department this year.

Hi: Yes! Can you introduce a bit about this sanitary department?

Yubin: Sure! There are three main categories of activities in the sanitary department! We do projects, hygiene management, cheering to encourage and support all the officials of the activities, so that they don't get tired until the end and a sanitation seminar. And if there is a department that needs help, we are the department who are ready to give a helping hand!

Hi: Oh, I see! I heard that this is your first time participating in the international students cafe, didn't you participate last year?

Yubin: No, I didn’t!

Hi: So, are you working as the head of the department for the first time, while at the same time participating in your first international student cafe this year?

Yubin: Yes, it’s true. (lol)

Hi: Wow, that's amazing! Then, as the manager of the department in charge at first, have you ever felt any difficulty or pressure

Yubin: Well... I thought more about working as a team with friends who grew up in completely different environments, friends who have different backgrounds, and friends from various countries than I was in middle and high school.

Hi: Oh, I see!

Yubin: It took me a long time to accept and admit that my way of doing things in my country might not be the right answer for the international student cafe’s activities!

Hi: Wow... That's such a really deep concern... So, are there any differences between the international student cafe you saw from your perspective of last year and after your actual participation?

Yubin: Oh... That's a difficult question... First of all, what I imagined was that there were so many foreign students working hard. And what's different from what I imagined is that the international student cafe I saw last year represented, "The international student cafe has the same goal and works with the same mind." But when I actually experienced it, the big goal might be the same but I was surprised to find out that everyone's purpose of participating in the international student cafe was different, and it was very new to me.

Hi: Oh, really?Yubin, do you have any goals that you set during your international student cafe’s activities this year?

Yubin: My goal is the same as when I applied for the department manager! Don't be afraid to show yourself to others and to show your weaknesses and deficiencies. I'm the type of person who hides things I'm not good at in front of others, but I want to open up to them through activities at international student cafes and get used to group life with a lot of help from others.

Hi: That's amazing! So, have you ever felt good when you participated?

Yubin: Well... I was just glad that I was able to get energy when I am with my department friends and encourage each other after the day's activities, especially when I am able to see the new advantages of my foreign student friends.

Hi: Is it an advantage of having someone who is an international student as a friend?

Yubin: Yes, I didn't know much about my international student friends, but I was able to learn about the advantages of each international student through the activities of this international student cafe. In particular, I felt that they were great friends knowing about the new strengths and values of friends in the same sanitary department. I'd keep learning every day.

Hi: It's amazing to learn every day. Then, how is the atmosphere of the sanitary department?

Yubin: In the sanitary department, many people, including myself, participate in international student cafes for the first time. So, bright, pure, lots of new ideas, and courageous friends like "pirates" who have no fear of failure, we are having a lot of fun!

Hi: Wow, pirate...! You're such a wonderful person! (laughs) I hope you always have a bright atmosphere and make lots of good memories at your first international student cafe! That's it for today's interview! Thank you again for the interview.

Yubin: Thank you!
